Our compounded medicines are prepared and dispensed by EM Pharma Ltd. We also use New Line Pharma and Somer Pharmacy for certain testosterone prescriptions. All three are GPhC-registered, and every prescription is reviewed by a registered pharmacist before it’s prepared or supplied.

Our Relationship with EM Pharma
Prescribing decisions are made independently of this relationship, and your clinician isn’t paid more for prescribing more. If you’d prefer to use a different pharmacy, your clinician can discuss alternative treatment options, including licensed medicines available through your preferred pharmacy.
What Is a Compounded Medicine?
It’s an established part of pharmacy practice, used when a licensed medicine doesn’t meet a patient’s clinical needs.
Because a compounded preparation doesn’t hold its own UK marketing authorisation, it’s classed as an unlicensed medicine. This means it hasn’t been through the same MHRA assessment process as a licensed product.
The prescribing and supply of unlicensed medicines is permitted in the UK, subject to specific legal and professional requirements, and your clinician will explain this to you before any unlicensed medicine is prescribed.

Unlike licensed medicines, compounded preparations have not undergone an individual MHRA marketing authorisation assessment.
The prescribing clinician is responsible for assessing whether an unlicensed medicine is clinically appropriate and explaining the available evidence, expected benefits, potential risks and treatment alternatives.
The dispensing pharmacy is responsible for meeting its applicable professional standards during preparation and supply.
Compounding allows a prescriber to specify an individual dose or formulation when a commercially available licensed product does not meet the patient’s assessed clinical requirements.
The decision to prescribe a compounded medicine follows an individual consultation and clinical assessment.
Compounded medicines prescribed under our protocols are dispensed exclusively by EM Pharma. If you’d prefer another pharmacy, your clinician can discuss alternatives, including licensed medicines available elsewhere.

Medicines prescribed through BioID Health are prepared or dispensed in the UK by the registered pharmacies identified on this page.
