Hormone Blood Tests

Here at BioID Health, we provide comprehensive at-home blood tests to identify hormonal imbalances or deficiencies in your body.

What sets us apart from some other companies providing hormone blood tests is that we are a doctor-led service, benefitting from a strong team of experts in bioidentical hormone replacement therapy.

Once we’ve got the results of your hormone blood test, our doctors will create a tailored treatment programme to suit your needs. You’ll only pay once for this treatment programme, as unlike other companies, we don’t charge for follow-up appointments and subsequent blood tests.

What types of hormone blood tests do we offer?

We can conduct hormone blood tests to measure the following levels within your body:

Testosterone
Oestrogen
Progesterone
DHEA
Vitamin D
Thyroxine

Here’s a little about each of these hormones, and how our hormone blood tests can help to determine whether you need treatment to alleviate any symptoms you may be experiencing.

Testosterone Hormone Blood Test

Whilst testosterone levels naturally decline with age, sometimes this can cause symptoms that require testosterone replacement therapy (TRT), which is also known as HRT for men.

Our hormone blood tests will check your testosterone levels, allowing us to provide you with a bespoke treatment plan, tailored to your specific hormonal needs.

Oestrogen Hormone Blood Test

The symptoms of peri-menopause and menopause can seriously affect your quality of life. These symptoms are caused by declining hormone levels, one of which is oestrogen.

BioID Health can conduct a thorough assessment of your oestrogen levels by performing a comprehensive hormone blood test. This will ascertain whether your oestrogen levels are depleted. The hormone blood test will also determine whether you are suffering from any other hormonal imbalances or vitamin deficiencies.

Once we have the results of your hormone blood test, we will provide you with a tailored treatment plan. This plan will be designed to optimise all your hormone levels, including oestrogen, to the levels they were at in your 20s and 30s – eliminating your symptoms and restoring optimal health.

Progesterone Hormone Blood Test

During the peri-menopause and menopause, your progesterone levels can decrease significantly. Symptoms include poor sleep, irritability, painful and heavier periods, low libido, and weight gain.

If you’re experiencing these symptoms, it’s wise to have a hormone blood test performed to ascertain whether low progesterone levels are to blame.

Once we’ve got the results of your blood test, we will provide you with a personalised plan to restore your hormones to optimum levels, alleviating your symptoms.

DHEA Hormone Blood Test

Dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA, is one of the less well-known hormones, but it is vital in the production of testosterone and oestrogen. As with other hormones, DHEA levels decrease with age.

Low DHEA levels can cause symptoms including dizziness, nausea, vomiting, loss of libido and unexplained weight loss.

If you’re experiencing these symptoms, it’s a good idea to have a hormone blood test to determine if you have low levels of DHEA.

Following your hormone blood test, you’ll be provided with a bespoke treatment plan. This will be designed to restore your DHEA levels, along with treating any other hormonal or vitamin deficiencies.

Vitamin D Blood Test

As you probably know, you get most of your vitamin D from sunlight (which isn’t always easy in the UK!).

Vitamin D helps your body absorb and retain calcium and phosphorus – both critical for bone health. It also plays a vital role in promoting a healthy immune system.

If you’re deficient in vitamin D, you may be suffering with fatigue, constipation, poor appetite, weakness, confusion, and depression.

A vitamin D deficiency can also cause a loss of bone density, which, in severe cases, can develop into osteoporosis.

If you’re suffering with any of the symptoms listed above, book a comprehensive blood test with BioID Health. This will ascertain if your vitamin D levels are low, as well as informing us whether you have any other hormonal or vitamin deficiencies or imbalances.

Our expert clinicians will then provide you with a tailored treatment plan, bespoke to your body’s specific needs.

Thyroxine Hormone Blood Test

Essential for digestion, muscle and heart function, and metabolism regulation, thyroxine is secreted by the thyroid gland.”

A thyroxine deficiency can cause reduced metabolism, weight gain, fatigue, a low heart rate, anxiety, and depression.

BioID Health offers a comprehensive hormone blood test that will assess your thyroxine levels, as well as a range of other hormones and vitamins within your body.

Following the blood test, you’ll be provided with a bespoke treatment plan, designed to address your thyroxine levels, and eliminate your symptoms.

What makes BioID Hormone Replacement Therapy Different?

BioID hormone replacement therapy is different from standard HRT, in that the hormones that our doctors prescribe are tailored to the precise needs of your body, and are produced using manmade hormones derived from plant sources.

Traditional HRT merely brings your hormones back within a ‘normal’ range, which is based upon the hormone levels of the general population – aged 18 to 90. As we optimise your hormone levels to a level that is right specifically for you, this makes side effects much less likely.

Another key distinction between bioidentical HRT and standard HRT is the ingredients that are used to produce them.

The bioidentical hormones that we use in our treatment are created from manmade hormones, derived from Mexican yam plants. These hormones have been engineered to be chemically identical to the ones that your body produces naturally.

On the other hand, some traditional hormone replacement products are created using the urine of pregnant horses, along with a variety of synthetic hormones. As these are not identical to the hormones your body produces, your body can view them as ‘foreign.’ This is one reason why they can pose a greater risk to your health, including an increased risk of cancer.

The long term wellbeing of our clients is of the utmost importance to us. That’s why we will arrange a follow-up blood test and review with you after 6-8 weeks of treatment. If necessary, we can then modify your treatment accordingly.

You are also entitled to a follow-up appointment with our doctors one month after your treatment, should you wish to take advantage of this.

What do our patients say?

Julie Green commented: “I suffered from menopause symptoms for a few years, including irritability, hot flushes, joint pain, and memory loss, to mention a few. I didn’t want to use HRT because I don’t believe there is a one-size-fits-all solution.
Dr. Kinsella saw me for a consultation, and following a simple blood test, he was able to figure out what I was missing. For the past three months, I’ve been taking a combination of oestrogen gel, progesterone, and vitamin D tablets, and I’ve noticed a significant improvement in my overall happiness and well-being; even my hot flushes are less frequent.
Dr. Kinsella and his colleagues are still on hand, keeping a careful eye on me and conducting regular blood tests to check my levels. I’m back to my old self, and I owe it to the team to thank them.”
