Worried it’s all a con or that you might end up feeling even worse?
Keen to separate the facts from the fiction?
Don’t let misinformation and scaremongering put you off making what could be the best move you’ve ever made for your health and well-being.
Read on to debunk the myths…
9 common myths about bioidentical hormones
Myth #1 – it’s all a marketing ploy
Endless research and thousands of happy bioidentical hormones users would disagree.
There’s nothing quite like a first-hand recommendation though, so why not check out our
client videos to hear what other users have to say about using bioidentical hormone therapy? Or use the online chat facility to speak directly to one of our specialists and discuss any reservations you have about getting started.
Myth #2 – there are serious health risks
This is one myth we really want to quash.
Although minimal, the
NHS has identified that standard combined HRT is associated with an increased risk of breast cancer, blood clots and strokes.
Bioidentical hormone treatment carries no such risks.
Any side effects are very rare and usually linked to dosage – which is why we continue to monitor your hormone levels closely throughout your treatment.
Myth #3 – BioID is no different to HRT
Wrong.
HRT is a ‘one size fits all’ way to treat the symptoms of menopause. No blood tests are taken pre-treatment in order for doctors to assess your individual hormone levels, and it’s prescribed as a set dose.
In contrast, BioID relies on a detailed blood test. This allows doctors to identify exactly which hormones – and in what quantity – you need to alleviate your symptoms.
A further key difference is the hormones themselves.
Standard HRT is usually made from synthetic hormones, foreign to the human body and often derived from animal sources.
BioID HRT is created from natural sources, using extracts taken from the Mexican yam plant which are modified and developed into hormones chemically indistinguishable from the ones your body naturally produces.
Myth #4 – it has negative side effects
The simple fact is, you’re far more likely to suffer side effects with standard HRT treatment than with BioID HRT.
The near-perfect replication of your body’s natural hormones means BioID hormones cause minimal problems. So unpleasant symptoms, such as bloating, breast tenderness, headaches, mood swings and nausea, are far less likely to be experienced.
Myth #5 – treatment will cost you a fortune
It won’t!
Prices are based on your individual prescription but, at BioID Health, prescriptions typically start at £149 per month – a small price to pay to feel like the real you again!
Included in this cost are all further blood tests and any follow-up appointments – it’s all part of the service.
Myth #6 – you’ll have to take tablets every day
Not a fan of swallowing tablets? You don’t have to!
We offer our bioidentical HRT in three forms. Gels, which can be applied to the face, limbs or genital area. A lozenge, which can be dissolved under the tongue or between the gum and lip. Or capsules, which can be swallowed quickly and easily with water.
Myth #7 – online treatment is risky
Wary about online medication? Want to be seen by a ‘real’ doctor?
Buying bioidentical hormones doesn’t mean you’ll be treated by a substandard or ‘cowboy’ doctor.
On the contrary, here at BioID Health, we offer online consultations with highly qualified clinicians. All our doctors and prescribers are registered with either the General Medical Council (GMC) or the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and are highly trained in bioidentical hormone therapy.
Myth #8 – treatment is just for women
Absolutely, 100%, not true.
Our treatments can work wonders for men too.
Low libido, erectile dysfunction, and fatigue could all be a thing of the past with the help of bioidentical hormones.
As part of a personalised plan, all your hormone levels will be assessed to identify any imbalances, including vitamin deficiencies. The result is tailormade treatment unique to your specific needs – whether you’re male or female!
Myth #9 – you can’t take bioidentical hormones for long
Wrong!
Treatment is highly customised, and timescales will be tailored to your exact need in close consultation with your doctor. But whilst HRT is only recommended for 5 years, you can stay on BioID for as long as you wish – forever if necessary!
